Day 1: Guiyang - Kaili, Shiqiao Paper-Making Experience

Arrive in Kaili to start your discovery of China's richest concentration of Miao and Dong ethnic cultures.

On arrival, meet your guide and proceed to Qingman village for an authentic lunch, greeted with a simple but hospitable welcome ceremony.

Spend the afternoon visiting Shiqiao, a Miao village that has inherited the essence of ancient handmade paper in Southeastern Guizhou. Walk through its tranquil streets, stopping at a simple workshop to learn how local artists transform tree bark into soft paper using the most ancient methods. Join in the process of scooping pulp, pressing, and drying your sheet. Stroll to the outskirts of the village, where a pellucid stream gurgles beneath a quaint stone bridge and, sometimes, local women wash clothes by the water.

Kaili

Day 2: Miao Village, Welcome Ceremony & Performances

This morning, we will drive about 40 minutes to the lower part of Langde Miao Village, where another 40-minute hike alongside a sweeping stream and vibrant rice paddies will take you to its upper part. There, women in festival attire will invite you to challenge twelve ceremonial cups of rice wine - Lán Mén Jiǔ (or gate-blocking wines) - the special welcome ceremony of the Miao people. Then, in the village square, enjoy a spirited folk performance that showcases the Miao people's distinctive music, dance, and hospitality.

After lunch at a family-run restaurant, explore historical homes, cultural museums, and narrow lanes in this mountainous hamlet and search for some unique souvenirs if you wish.

Day 3: Miao Village with Floating Granaries & Scenic Journey to Rongjiang

Today, we will move south further (about two hours) to Rongjiang County, one of the core areas that has the most pristine and best-preserved Dong ethnic culture.

On the way, visit Datang Village, featuring dozens of floating granaries - tiny wooden houses on stilts - standing quietly in shallow, mossy ponds, seeming still in time. For hundreds of years, farmers in this area have used this method to store grain, preventing rats, fire, and moisture.

Day 4: Dong Ethnic Group & Transfer to Zhaoxing

Today's journey takes you to Dali Dong Village, a tranquil village nestled deep in unspoiled nature. With over 600 years of history, the wind-and-rain bridges, a wooden courtyard house, and traditional weaving are still alive. Climb up a drum tower for a panoramic view. If you happen to be there on a festival day, take the chance to enjoy a choral performance or participate in a long-table banquet for lunch. Unwind in this mountain village and embrace a peaceful life away from the outside world. Then take a 2-hour ride to Zhaoxing.

Day 5: Zhaoxing: Terrace Field Hiking & Grand Song of the Dong Ethnic Group

Today, start with a classic countryside hike from Zhaoxing to Tangan Village. You'll finish this relaxing hike in about two hours with breathtaking views of primitive houses and terraced fields.

Have a leisure afternoon to explore Zhaoxing Dong Village with your guide or independently. If you wish, visit the Dong Culture Museum, try batik dyeing, or dress in your favorite ethnic costumes and take a set of beautiful pictures. Just share your idea with your travel consultant or your guide.

In the evening, enjoy an original Dong Grand Song performance - a chorus echoing the Dong people's history and culture.

Day 6: Congjiang: Basha Miao Village, Zhanli Dong Village, Huanggang Dong Village

Take a ride to Congjiang County in the morning, and explore three remarkable villages here. Begin with Basha Miao Village, where locals still use fire guns and are known for their fierce spirit. Continue to Zhanli Dongzhai, which is famous for a legend that drinking water from "male-well" or "female-well", used with a herb called "huanhuacao", can help families choose to have sons or daughters. Learn how this remote village keeps almost zero population growth. End the trip at Huanggang Dong Village, which remains a layout from the Song Dynasty, admire the five drum towers with boards engraved with 24 solar terms, and overlook the village from the viewing platform.

Second Honeymoon My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary by spending a few weeks touring around Asia. We loved how Odynovo worked with us to craft a tour of what we wanted to see and how we wanted to see it. This was our first time traveling with a private tour guide, and it was truly amazing. they took care of all transportation, tickets, and everywhere we went we had someone who not only spoke our language, but was also very well-versed in the places we were visiting. We saw Beijing and then took a bullet train to Xi'an. In both cities we had tour guides who had done this "a thousand times," and as a result knew all the tricks on where to take the best pictures, what lines to stand in, where to eat, and what not to waste your time seeing. At one point our guide pulled out ponchos from her backpack when it started to rain, while another helped us haggle for a good price on a new suitcase. We were surprised by how much we loved China, and it is safe to say that is because of the quality of service we got from Odynovo. Oh, and the hotels were great, too! In our first hotel my wife fell in love with her breakfast soup that she had to have every morning, while in Xi'an we were right around the corner from the Muslim Night Market and were able to get to it in less than 5 minutes of walking. We are already looking to see what tours we will be doing next through Odynovo, as the service was amazing, the quality was remarkable, and the cost was very worth it for what we received.

Fabulous! We had a fabulous experience with our guide and Odynovo walking the Great Wall of China, and all other sites in Beijing. We loved our Peking duck dinner. It was fabulous. Thank you, Sammie/Jing for a great experience.

Beijing Beauty It started off with a friendly face at the airport, with Roy, our tour guide. The week has been such a pleasure and a treat. From adventures to The Great Wall, Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City, to local markets, delicious Beijing food and roof top tea houses.Roy and our driver, Mr. Zhou, were prompt in picking us up and driving us around safely. The knowledge and fact about history and Beijing that Roy knows and explains is amazing and the fact he could answer my weird and inquisitive history questionsnwoth ease was a treat. He made it so easy to enjoy ourselves and absorb all that was around us, he even takes great photos too! 😊Polite, kind and thoughtful and ever patient in letting us take our time with things that interested us.I would highly recommend this tour and Roy again and again.

Amazing travel experience My name is Zarah M. Babangida a Nigerian and i visited Beijing with my colleagues from the office. During our 5 day stay in Beijing, Ms. Eva Ma, was our Tour guide and from the minute we came through the Arrival Gate of the Airport, we were embraced by her alluring smile and warm welcome. She remained consistent with her warmth, a kind and intelligent professional who exuded unique passion not just for her job as a tour guide but, even more so as a proud Chinese woman. Her outstanding insight and knowledge of the sweet Chinese history and heritage left us in awe. I couldn't be more proud and thankful that she was assigned to our group and she made our stay exciting, fun-filled effortless and knowledge packed. I absolutely commend her dedication to work which she depicted throughout our stay. I recommend her to every visiting tourist because to know Eva, is to love her. If it were up to me, i will increase her bonuses or upgrade her salary as i am sure most tourists would want or revisit for her sake first and then perhaps other reasons.Thank you Eva and keep the passion up🙌.
